About Us

The Office of Research Administration (“ORA”) is dedicated to supporting the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s research mission by offering sponsored research expertise, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies, and providing excellent service to faculty and staff to advance biomedical research and discovery.

ORA is comprised of three separate offices, each serving the needs of School of Medicine faculty and departments in different ways. Each unit of ORA stands ready to partner with our faculty, staff, and departments to support the research endeavors of the School of Medicine. Let us know how we can help you!

The Office of Research Administration (ORA-MRB) is responsible for:

• Review and submission of all SOM grant applications
• Review, negotiation, and signature of all grant awards
• Negotiation and signature of all research contracts and other research-related agreements (other than for commercially sponsored clinical research)
• Drafting, negotiation, and signature of all outgoing subawards agreements (subgrants and subcontracts)

Clinical Research Contracting (CRC) is responsible for the review, negotiation, and signature of all commercially sponsored clinical research and all SOM Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreements (CDA/NDA).

Clinical Research Support Services (CRSS) provides budget development, negotiation services, and performs Prospective Reimbursement Analyses on clinical studies conducted under the authority of the Johns Hopkins Institutional Review Board
