Mission Statement

The Office of Research Administration (“ORA”) is dedicated to supporting the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine’s research mission by offering sponsored research expertise, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and institutional policies, and providing excellent service to faculty and staff to advance biomedical research and discovery.

The Office of Research Administration (ORA) is responsible for:

  • Review and submission of all SOM grant applications
  • Review, negotiation, and signature of all grant awards
  • Negotiation and signature of all research contracts and other research-related agreements (other than for commercially sponsored clinical research)
  • Drafting, negotiation, and signature of all outgoing subawards agreements (subgrants and subcontracts)

For information about commercially sponsored clinical research and commercial clinical trials, please contact the Clinical Research Contracting (CRC) office. CRC is part of the JH Office of Clinical Trials (OCT) and is responsible for the review, negotiation, and signature of all commercially sponsored clinical research and all Confidentiality/Non-Disclosure Agreements (CDA/NDA) for the School of Medicine.
